3/5: Film Is in the Air

Let's go to to the movies

REEL IT UP: Every weekend in Miami seems to have a theme. Last weekend it was food, two weeks from now it will be techno music and this week it's movies. Not only is everyone's favorite award show on Sunday, Alice In Wonderland is out today and Miami Beach is about to be invaded by all that is film, too. Today is the opening day of the Miami International Film Festival. This year's festival will be presenting the best of emerging and established films from the local scene to the international community. Tonight's kick-off film at The Gusman Center is Looking For Eric, highlighting the escape from life's troubles that soccer and its heroes provide to its fans. We can definitely relate -- David Beckham really does always make us feel better. 7 P.M.

SHALL WE DANCE? Not knowing how to dance is really not allowed when you live in Miami. If you need a little refresher on how to bust some moves, we found the perfect dance 101. Tonight Grass on Miami Beach will be presenting Freddy Lugo y su Rumberos, who will be playing a special tribute to Joe Cuba. Who is this Joe Cuba, you might ask. It all started in NYC at Havana San Juan in the '70s when a popular group of musicians and entertainers livened up the city with their sensational rhythms and sensual dance moves and brought Latin music to dance halls everywhere. Free mambo classes will be given before the show, so be sure to get there early. 9 P.M.

WE'RE ALL MAD HERE: Tonight is the night. Tim Burton's masterpiece is officially out today and everyone is in a tizzy. After you wait in line to see the movie we have all been waiting for, go celebrate in style. Tonight at SET, they will be partying to all that is Alice In Wonderland with, what else, a swimsuit runway show. B.Swim is a new swimwear line, inspired by vintage prints and styles, for any babe who loves herself a barely there bathing suit. We're not sure how rabbit holes and bikinis go together, but we know SET wont let us down. 11 P.M.
