9/22: Baseball for a Cause

Donate, donate, and drink.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: The Marlins have quite a day ahead of them as they take on the Phillies in a doubleheader at Landshark Stadium. The good thing (other than watching our Marlins, of course) is a portion of each ticket purchased goes to the National Parkinson Foundation and one ticket gets you into BOTH games. Tickets range from $20-$50. It's totally worth playing hookey from work. 4:10 P.M.

GO FOR THE GOLD: If wine drinking were a sport, the 2009 Gold Medal Wine Tour would be its Olympics. Chef Cindy Hutson's Ortanique on the Mile plays host as the tour kicks off with a "Sparkling Reception," then continues with a sumptuous four-course pairing dinner, prizes, a silent auction and more. Proceeds benefit UCP of South Florida's Hope Center, which serves over 650 children and adults with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other types of developmental disabilities. Dinners are $125 all-inclusive, and RSVP's are required. You'll get more than just a gold medal tonight. 6 P.M.

SAMPLE THE LOCAL FARE: Looking for something off the beaten path of South Beach? Your search ends now. Head over to Purdy Lounge for Laidback & Local Tuesdays, where local tastemaker Jared Esdale of Nikki Beach hosts weekly. What's more, its dollar drafts, two-buck Purdy shots, no cover charge, and hassle-free door policy make it a favorite for SoBe locals. Fun AND cheap? I think we're really onto something here... 11 P.M.
