Because Madge Would Want You to Go

Madonna’s Raising Malawi organization makes its way to Miami March 21 at ICON Brickell and hopes to raise a hope and cash along the way

So you don’t have the funds Madonna and the Jolie-Pitt clan have to full-time rescue orphans. But you can drop at least $45 (in advance, $55 at the door) to help out a kid in need this week when ICON Brickell hosts One Night Under the Stars to Make a Difference. Who knows, maybe Brad Pitt will hear about your good deed and look to shack up and procreate with you next.

One Night Under the Stars’ poster says it’s 8,110 miles from Miami Beach to the capitol of Malawi, but the Raising Malawi Orphan Care Initiative hopes to bridge that gap March 21 when they’ll host a massive shindig at the latest hotspot in Brickell.

What's in store for this fete? Start off by boozing it up at the cocktail reception from 7 to 9 p.m., bid on goodies at a silent auction, enter raffles, dance to music and take a tour of ICON Brickell. Who knew saving a child could be so much fun?

Raising Malawi, an organization that does everything under the sun to provide care to the country’s 1 million orphans, was co-founded by Madonna and Michael Berg. Madonna’s own personal effort to help Malawi resulted in the adoption of her son David, a native of the country.

Madonna also wrote and produced the documentary “I Am Because We Are,” which follows the lives of several Malawi children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and poverty. The film, however, will not show at the event, as it’s currently debuting in Europe. Fret not, we hear it will be on YouTube soon enough. And we assure you there will be plenty else to keep you entertained as high profile guests are already filling up the V.I.P. list. Who, you ask? Well, you’ll just have to see for yourself.
