Bob Sinclar To Reopen Amnesia

Who could forget all the late-90s foam parties in that one open-air club on South Beach? Well, everyone who attended, for one, but not because they weren't memorable (if you catch our drift). The place was appropriately titled Amnesia; the annoyingly young will only remember it as Opium Garden, the name under which it operated for five years or so before laying dormant for the last few years.

French Superstar DJ Bob Sinclar would have Miamians forget all over again. He and two fellow countrymen are resurrecting Amnesia at its original 136 Collins location, proclaiming 'the legend returns!' and bravely committing to an opening date of October 21.

"As a DJ, I always dreamed to make my own club, just to make it as I think it's the best for a DJ to play inside a club," he said during Miami Music Week. "It's gonna be a huge project, and I love Miami so much, and it's the right place to do it."

But Amnesia won't be exactly the same. Some demo is underway, with a roof being added over what was once an outside inside. We'll have more on Amnesia's exact renovation plans shortly, but for now, the nostalgic should prepare themselves: foam parties are one Amnesia feature that probably won't -- and probably shouldn't -- be back.
