A man was questioned and released from police custody after the car believed to be used by the suspect who gunned down a man on Miami Beach last week was found abandoned near Miami International Airport Tuesday.

The white Honda Accord was discovered in the parking lot of the MetroRail station in the area of Northwest 38th Court and Northwest 25th Street, Miami Beach Police said.

Police said a man who was taken into custody was released late Tuesday night and the investigation continues into any possible involvement he might have in the case.

Authorities have been looking for the car since Thursday night, when 29-year-old Kamil Patel was gunned down in the area of Espanola Way and Collins Court.

Patel was walking with his girlfriend when the car pulled up behind them and a person got out of the vehicle and fatally shot Patel, according to police. Patel recently moved to Miami Beach from Texas.

The last known person in possession of the car is identified as Orestes Marrero, who had been missing, but police said he has been found safely and is cooperating with their investigation.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with info is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
