High School Coach in Coral Springs Accused of Soliciting Sexual Favors From Underage Boy

A high school wrestling coach in Coral Springs is accused of soliciting sexual favors from an underage boy online under the username "Dirty Dusty," police said Tuesday.

Dustin Roy Garvin, 32, a micro technician and an assistant wrestling coach at J.P. Taravella High School, was arrested Tuesday after he admitted to authorities that he solicited a minor with the purpose of engaging in a sex act, the Coral Springs Police Department said.

In an undercover investigation in August 2017, a special agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement posed as a 13-year-old male online and responded to a Craiglist ad from user "Dirty Dusty" that was soliciting sexual favors from young males, police said.

"Dirty Dusty," who was later identified as Garvin, had multiple conversations with the undercover agent, requesting sexual favors and even photographs.

Garvin is being charged with one count of using a computer to solicit a sex act with a minor, police said. During a Wednesday court apperance, Garvin was given $3,500 bond and placed on house arrest while being ordered to wear an ankle monitor and stay away from children.

The Broward County School Board Investigative Unit has been notified of the arrest.

Coral Springs police believe there may be a possibility that other victims exist, so anyone with additional information should contact Detective Carter at 954-346-1790.

CORRECTION: A previous version of the story listed an incorrect school as the location where the alleged suspect served as a coach.
