Deerfield Beach Middle School Security Guard Accused of Lewd Acts With Girl

A security guard at Deerfield Beach Middle School was arrested after authorities say he engaged in lewd acts with a 13-year-old girl.

Alejandro Escobar, 50, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of lewd or lascivious conduct after a parent reported he had inappropriate contact with her daughter, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Detectives say the girl told them she developed a close relationship with Escobar after she started to have problems at the beginning of the school year. Escobar gave the girl a notebook which she used to share her thoughts with him but instead of reporting the girl's statements to school administrators, he would regularly meet with the girl throughout the school day, officials said.

On Friday, while the girl was in Escobar's office, he kissed her several times and touched her inappropriately, officials said.

He was was booked into jail and later ordered held on $75,000 bond and told to stay away from the school. Attorney information wasn't available.

In addition to his security guard duties, Escobar also coached soccer and volleyball at the school. Authorities are asking anyone who believes they have been victimized by Escobar to call BSO at 954-321-4240.
