Son Found After Taken From Dad's Custody by Mom: Police

A 7-year-old boy who was taken by his mother from his father's South Florida home has been found, police said Monday.

The father was on his way to Georgia to reunite with his son, state authorities told the Hialeah Police Department. Additional information was not available.

Rickquita Wright, who lives in Georgia, visited her ex-husband Roy Stephens II's Hialeah home Saturday morning and took off with their 7-year-old son Roy Stephens III, who is asthmatic and under the father's custody, the Hialeah Police Department said.

"She was getting out of control, getting out of hand and stuff," said Stephens. "I knew right then I needed to call 911. As I proceeded to go into the house to get the phone, I come back out, she took off with him."

"Once Mr. Stephens was distracted, Wright put the child in her vehicle and fled the scene in a Silver Toyota Corolla, bearing Georgia tag CGZ9069," police said in a statement. "The vehicle was occupied by two unknown males and an unknown female."

Wright was last seen wearing a white Nike t-shirt along with black tights. The child was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue shorts.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hialeah police at 305-687-2525 or contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
