A 5-year-old girl was flown to the hospital after she was struck by a car and became stuck underneath it in Deerfield Beach Monday morning.
The girl was struck by the car just after 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Southwest 3rd Street, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials said. She was trapped under the car for about 4 to 5 minutes before bystanders pulled her out.
The girl was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center. She suffered some facial lacerations, road rash, and some second-degree burns but none of her injuries were considered life-threatening.
Bystanders told authorities that the girl was injured while walking to school. The car stayed at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
