Mad About Dad

Do it up for dad this Father's Day with treats all around town

Father’s Day is fast approaching. Here are a few places you can take your dad to let him know you’re thankful he didn’t ground you for the rest of your life after you dented his car way back in the day.

DINING FOR DAD: Dads have been grilling since the dawn of time, but on Father’s Day let someone else make the meat for your old man. There’s a buffet of options all over town. If your father wants to kick-start his day with brunch, head over to Area 31 at Epic for two times the buffet bliss from 12 until 3 p.m. Start dad off with the cold buffet of ceviche, cold cuts and caviar and then heat things up at the hot buffet with waffles and three-egg omelets. Top off the meal with the restaurant’s 16th-floor views of Miami. It’s the perfect way to celebrate dad high in the sky.

Or, if dad is a steak and eggs kind of guy, treat him to brunch at Grill on the Alley in Aventura Mall from 11:30 until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Then, if you haven’t already snagged him a great gift, you can just race around the mall and scoop one up while he woofs down blueberry buttermilk pancakes.

If breakfast foods are too namby pamby for your tough guy, check out Café Prima Pasta’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” Father’s Day special. Here, “man food” is what’s on the menu. Dad’s score 50 percent off dinner and bottomless bloody beverages on June 21 from 4 until 6 p.m.

PAMPER YOUR POP: If dad needs some serious “me” time this Father’s Day give him a weekend getaway, like Miami InterContinental’s Tee for Two ($339) package with 18 holes at the Miami Beach Golf Club and a night at the InterContinental. He may even feel inclined to have a Spa on the Rocks ($210) at the hotel’s mySpa. The treatment comes complete with massage from head-to-toe and a scotch to wash away his worries.

If you’re looking to help dad get fit this Father’s Day, Metropolis Fitness & Spa in Coral Gables has the perfect gift combo. Get dad a $100 gift certificate to the spa and he’ll score a free one-month membership to the gym. This way he’ll be both ripped and relaxed.
