A man who was caught on camera shooting another man in the chest in the courtyard of an apartment complex in northwest Miami-Dade has been arrested, police said.
Willie Payne, 18, surrendered Monday to face charges in the Sept. 1 shooting of 18-year-old Cornelius Eugene Bent Jr. in the 4700 block of Northwest 23rd Court, Miami-Dade Police officials said.
Detectives recently released surveillance video allegedly showing Payne confronting the victim with a gun and then shooting him in the chest. Bent was treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital and later released.
Payne was also wanted in another case in Broward County. That case is also pending and he will be extradited to face those charges later on. The details of that case and the exact charges he faces are unknown.
At a hearing Tuesday, Payne was ordered to stay in jail with no bond pending the Broward County case, while detective finalize the charges in Miami Dade for the second felony case.
