Man Shot at Lauderdale Lakes Gas Station: Police

Police are investigating a shooting at a gas station in Lauderdale Lakes that sent one man to the hospital.

The incident happened at a Citgo gas station on North State Road 7 and 44th Court early Sunday morning.

“It was like boom boom, two shots, and I woke up,” said a local resident who wanted to remain anonymous. “I heard people screaming and I got up to see if the doors are locked and I turned on the alarm.”

Her suspicions were confirmed by Broward Sheriff’s Office. Police said an altercation broke out between two groups at 5 a.m. Sunday. The argument escalated and one person came back with a gun and started shooting randomly into the crowd, leaving one person wounded. 

Broward Fire Rescue took the victim to Broward Health Medical Center for his injuries, where he later died.

The victim was identified as Cliff Ismael, 26, of North Lauderdale. 

The suspect was later arrested. His identity has not yet been released. It’s unclear what charges will be filed.
