Student Arrested for Allegedly Making Threat to ‘Shoot Up' High School in Miramar

Police are investigating a threat that was made by a student to a high school in Miramar after arresting the 16-year-old teen.

Miramar Police Department confirmed that a teacher notified a school official that a student in her theater class at Everglades High School had allegedly been heard saying "I sick of this s***. I'm going to bring a gun and shoot up the school."

"As you may have seen over social media, a threat was made by one of our students," principal Haleh Darbar said in a message sent to parents Wednesday night. "I want to assure you that Miramar Police is actively investigating the situation."

Overnight, Miramar Police confirmed they arrested the student who made the threat and charged him with one count of making a false report concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner.

In their report, police say the teen denied to the teacher making the comment while several witnesses told investigators they heard him making threats as well as talking about bring a weapon to school.
