Nothing Like a Little Night Driving

Nightdrive comes to Harvey's by the Bay

We’re all very broke, and if you’re not broke, the rest of us would prefer if you pretended that you were.

In the poorhouse or not, there’s really no excuse to sit at home and watch endless hours of stolen cable drunk and alone in your cave. Socializing is important, and so just in time to save you from your developing agoraphobia, Nightdrive has returned on a new night, same great music, one very inexpensive venue.

The party, which once took place at News Lounge, has now moved a few blocks away to Harvey’s by the Bay, a more-than-affordable spot housed in the American Legion. The halls, decorated with the faces of local war heroes, lead into a large bar with not much seating, but a pool table and jukebox, which make great nesting tools. Add a few DJs who know what they’re doing, and you have a sweet party.

The boys of Nightdrive include Mike Deuce, Jonathan Brody and Patrick Walsh (DJPJ), who will be spinning indie favorites, gentler electronic beats and disco. Yes, finally someone is spinning disco at a place intended for veterans to bond. Just makes sense, doesn’t it?

The hope of these three disc jockeys is that this relaxed party offers people room to dance, chat and chill. However, they have larger plans on the horizon. Eventually they hope to make use of the Legion’s large backyard for possibly a slip ‘n slide or camping themed party. Harvey’s is one of the few bars in town that has a 24-hour liquor license, so there may be an after-hours party in the near future, as well.

This is Nightdrive’s second week at this location, and if the first was any indicator of success, the place will be packed. With drafts at $2, pitchers at $6 and well drinks for $3.50, there’s no doubt that besides the music, there's good reason to head over for a drink or a drunk.

Get to the party at 6445 NE 7th Ave between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Check out the online video here.
