NiteTalk: Cirque de Soleil Vet Francisco Javier Santos Brings His Acrobatic Horrorfest to Miami

Forget trick or treating -- this Halloween season you'll want to find your frights at Circo de los Horrores. Created by Cirque de Soleil vet Francisco Javier Santos, and featuring enough ghouls and goblins to spook Stephen King, this acrobatic horrorfest is dead set on changing the way we do scary.

What's Circo de los Horrores anyway?
Circo de los Horrores is a blend of theater, cabaret and circus. It's the magic of theater, spontaneity of cabaret and the story telling of a circus.

This isn't just frightening special effects though; there's some kinda story behind the spectacle, right? Yes, the story is centered on the only mortal, "Suso."  He travels on a train to an abandoned cemetery where he discovers all these living dead creatures, ghouls, mummies and monsters, which take him and the audience to a passage through the world of the super natural.  Be careful though, because you might be selected to be the next Suso.

What made you decide to open in Miami?
Our idea to open in Miami was to introduce something new in the area, especially during the month of October for Halloween.

You yourself come from a long-line of Spanish acrobats. Yes, I am a performer in Cirque du Soleil's Varekai, where I do an acrobatic act with my brothers called "Icarian Games."

Will you be performing in Circo as well? Eventually, yes. But not this year.

Have you had a chance to hit any Miami hotspots yet?
Segafredo in downtown Miami is one my favorite spots, along with Nikki Beach.

What's the next step for Francisco Javier Santos? First step, make Full Moon Productions known in Miami. Then continue bringing world renowned acts to the U.S. for years to come.

Circo de los Horrores at the James L. Knight Center, 400 SE Second Ave., Miami, Fla. 305-350-7910.
