Miami Art Museum Cocktail Hour Dries Up

It's 5 o'clock somewhere -- unless you're at the Miami Art Museum.

The allure of booze and finger food weren't enough to attract young professionals with some bank to the Miami Art Museum and resulted in a cocktail hour hiatus, according to the museum's assistant programming director and senior curator.

Peter Boswell told Miami New Times that the JAM@MAM cocktail party wasn't bringing in enough coin to help off-set the costs of the museum's pricey new Bicentennial Park digs and had to be suspended. It will start again later this year with more focus around programming, he said.

"We want to put people in front of the arts and exhibits in an engaging manner," Boswell told the paper. "If we can accomplish that, we'll be on the right track."
