Phillipe Chow, Shark Raving Mad

The chef/owner of chi chi resto Philippe is just saying no to shark fins

If you decide to blow your month's paycheck on a meal at Philippe in the Gansevoort hotel, don't expect to order shark fin soup.

Star chef Philippe Chow has removed the item from the menu in protest of the delicacy. Mako sharks, which are used in the soup, are an endangered species, and so Chow is calling for all Asian restaurants to boycott its use.

According to the Miami Herald, Chow had made an effort to purchase his shark fins from environmentally friendly sources, but he has now decided to put the kibosh on the whole practice.

We hear the Peking duck's better anyway.
