PR Powerhouse Nick D’Annunzio: Inside My VIP Birthday Bash

Finding a good time in Miami on a Saturday night is not hard to do. From South Miami to Sunny Isles, there is always something going on. But if you’re looking for “the” party, look no further than PR powerhouse Nick D’Annunzio’s annual birthday bash.

But make sure you got your invite. Calling it exclusive might be an understatement.

Being held at Cafeina in Wynwood, which has been highly praised since it’s opening in 2010, the theme alone is sure to cause a stir. D’Annunzio prides himself on an original affair: 2009 it was “Totally ‘80s” and 2010 he got a little dirty with “Very Burlesque.” And this Saturday, look out for “The Best Little Whorehouse in Miami.”

“It came to me one night. I always loved the movie,” he said of the hit musical and Dolly Parton flick. “And each year I love to pick a theme. Besides, who doesn't love cowboys and harlots? I already have next year’s theme planned too and I can’t wait to share it.”

And if you were lucky enough to get the guest list, don’t be afraid to dress to the nines.

“Well, girls can come as cowgirls or harlots and guys as cowboys. So I'm sure we will see lots of chaps and boas. And that's just on the dudes,” he said.

Just in case you thought this party might be a reenactment of the film with a chicken ranch and sheriff, think again. After all, he does throw parties for a living.

“For starters," he told Niteside, "There’s amazing music by Troy Kurtz and Pirate Stereo. Great food by Cafeina, delicious vodka drinks by Svedka. We also have a mechanical bull, haystacks, (drag queen) Elaine Lancaster as Dolly, harlots running around, toy guns, girls and boys cowboy hats, and a very cool pop art cowboy portrait by artist Martin Kaupp.”

For anyone attending the soiree, leave all gifts at home: A donation to Make A Wish of South Florida is all he needs,

“We hope to raise lots of money to grant lots of wishes. If people could spare $5, $10, or $20 that would be awesome and the best gift I could ask for.”
