Stuff yourself silly this week at RA Sushi—it’s for a good cause

It’s Nicky’s Week at RA Sushi May 24 through 30.

No, we aren’t talking about a week of sushi dedicated to Paris’ sister.

Named after Nicholas “Nicky” Mailliard, Nicky’s Week is RA Sushi Bar Restaurant’s fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital

RA Owner Rich Howland found a soft spot in his heart for Nicky, a longtime St. Jude patient who, at 13, lost his battle with brain cancer in 2005. Since then, the restaurant created the week to bring awareness and raise funds, to the tune of nearly $400,000, for St. Jude’s.

And this month it will yet again donate 100 percent of proceeds from certain menu items at all of its 22-nationwide locations to help children with life-threatening illnesses.

So when you get a craving for sushi this and next week, might we suggest edamame, tootsy maki and shrimp shumai?

Thirsty? Have some FIJI, Red Bull and beverages from The Republic of Tea at the South Miami location at 5829 S.W. 73rd St. By consuming these items, you can help RA reach its $110,000 goal for the charity this year.

Sure $110,000 is a lot of sushi, but you and your friends have to eat at least three times a day. And you’ve got to stay hydrated—especially in this heat. Toss in some Red Bull to help keep you awake for whatever late-night task you’ve been putting off and you’re well on your way to making some sick kids very happy.

And to make you very happy, there's a whole week of sushi soirees at RA. Kicking off the event on May 24, Fly Fish Lounge serves up bites and booze from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Monday, May 25, celebrate Memorial Day with RA, White and Blue from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Keep the fundraising going on Tuesday, May 26, with mascot madness featuring Billy of the Florida Marlins and Burnie from the Heat entertaining and enticing you with Nicky's Week menu items. Happy hour hits the clock Wednesday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. And on Saturday, May 30th, close out the week with 944 magazine's party from 7 to 10 p.m.

Getting stuffed on sushi never felt so right. Bon appetite in ways stick figure Nicky Hilton never would.
