Ryan Gosling Gears Up To Release Debut Album With Band Dead Man's Bones

Ryan Gosling is known for his starring roles in indie films like "Lars and the Real Girl," but now it appears he's about to get a reputation as an indie musician as well.

According to music Web site Pitchfork, Gosling's band, Dead Man's Bones, with fellow actor Zach Shields, will release their debut album on the Anti Records imprint on October 6.

Ryan, who plays a host of instruments, including guitar and piano in the group, and fellow Dead Man's Bones frontman Zach recorded their upcoming LP with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, according to Pitchfork.

The two were interested in using the Los Angeles-based singing group after taking inspiration from "The Langley Schools Music Project," a record which captured a young person's choir in the late 1970s, performing popular songs set to more orchestral vocal arrangements.

"You know when you're a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it's just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you're always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the fridge," the actor previously told Pitchfork. "We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn't been affected in that way yet."

On their MySpace page, Gosling and Shields claim they are influenced by things including Disney Haunted Mansions, doo-wop and '60s girl groups.

Although he is best known for his acting, Gosling is no stranger to music. As a child, he starred alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake in "The Mickey Mouse Club."
