Primping. It's a casualty of these tough economic times. The consequence? People everywhere are stripping down their luxuries, causing an influx of unibrows, pasty white skin and flabby abbies wandering the streets.
But keep a stiff upper collagen-infused lip, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has come to the rescue with its second installment of Miami Spa Month, which was inspired by the success of Miami Spice Restaurant Month, during which upscale restaurants offer discounted lunch and dinner menus.
"The first-ever Miami Spa Month in July 2008 was so successful in attracting visitors and locals to the city's world-class spas that the special promotion was extended through the end of August 2008," said the GMCVB, adding, "Across the board, spas participating in the Miami Spa Month promotion experienced increased sales during the first three weeks compared to the same time period for the previous year."
With more locals beautifying themselves during this coveted discounted month (selected services are only $99!), it's a win-win situation for both beautifiers and "beautifiees."
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach Spa, a returning participant, will be offering their signature facial, a mani-pedi set, a "Tropical Swedish Massage," and a package deal of a scalp massage, hair mask, and blow out for only $99 for each treatment.
Another second-year vet is the Willow Stream Spa, located at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club. The spa managed to open its doors up to 500 new clients last July. They'll be offering two discounted treatments this month -- the "Up to Par Body Experience" and "Beyond Botox." With these package deals comes "Me Time," which grants you access to Willow Stream's fitness facility and the resort's Cascata Pool, complete with tiki bar and frozen drinks.
The Spa at Icon Brickell, located in the Viceroy Miami is a fairly new locale and will be experiencing their first Spa Month this year. What they're offering? A facial, a massage, their signature mani-pedi set and a 75-minute body treatment called "Tropical Bliss."
We're feeling more pampered just thinking about it.
