Serial South Florida Home Burglars Arrested: BSO

Four men accused of committing a series of home burglaries in South Florida have been arrested, authorities said.

Willie Florence, 19, Lesean Mountain, 18, Dewontres McCray, 35, and Jacobi Denmonte were arrested Wednesday on charges including armed burglary, grand theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of cannabis and criminal mischief, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said Friday.

The arrests come after the BSO's Burglary Apprehension Team and the Deerfield Beach Criminal Investigations Unit launched an investigation into a rash of residential burglaries in the city. Authorities started surveillance on a Nissan Altima that had been seen driving in and out of several neighborhoods throughout Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.

During the surveillance, detectives saw Florence, Mountain and Denmonte break into a home in Miami, officials said. All three were taken into custody without incident and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered from their car, officials said.

Detectives in Deerfield Beach also started surveillance on a BMW and arrested McCray after they saw him go into a home, officials said.

Florence and Mountain remained behind bars without bond Friday, while McCray was being held on more than $15,000 bond, jail records showed. Denmonte wasn't listed on the jail website. Attorney information wasn't available.
