Woman Facing DUI Charge in Dirt Bike Crash in Opa-locka

A woman was arrested on a DUI charge after police say she struck a dirt bike rider on an Opa-locka street Monday evening.

Maria Zuniga, 36, was arrested on a charge of DUI causing serious bodily injury after the crash in the area of Ali Baba Avenue and Duval Street.

Police say Zuniga stayed at the scene after hitting the dirt bike rider, but her blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.

The dirt bike rider suffered head trauma and two broken legs, and was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition. His name and age haven't been released.

Zuniga was booked into jail, where she was being held on $10,000 bond Tuesday, records showed. She has been appointed a public defender.
