Yves Saint Laurent Doc Opens at O Cinema

Yves Saint Laurent became a legendary fashion designer and couturier, but his personal life was just as fascinating. His partner of four decades, Pierre Bergé, opens up about their life together in L'Amour Fou, an insightful documentary centered around the 2009 auction of the couple's extravagant $480 million art collection. Saint Laurent died of brain cancer in 2008, but he looms larger than life through archival footage, the memories of his lover, and the thrilling designs he turned out to a mesmerized world.

"L'amour Fou engages and moves viewers in two distinct ways," wrote the San Francisco Chronicle's Mick LaSalle. "It enages us by showing us something we don't know about that's interesting. It moves us by showing us something we immediately understand, that has nothing to do with being a big shot and everything to do with being just another person at the mercy of time."
