According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, one man suffered a back injury and the other, James Dyer, suffered a laceration to his face and bruised leg.

Both refused to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Dyer said the group had gone out fishing and were moving through tall grass when they hit the rock.

"Luckily I landed on my head so it didn't hurt me," Dyer joked.

He said the rock knocked a hole into the bottom of the boat, causing it to start sinking. They were able to run to a levee and call 911.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue assisted in a brief search for the men.

Dyer said they weren't afraid of alligators but were thankful for the quick response.

"There's gators out there and stuff but we don't mess with them and they don't mess with us," he said.
