Two women were killed in separate car crashes Wednesday morning in Broward County, officials said.
For one of those women, it was not the first time a serious car crash had affected her and her family.
Remise Ullius, 33, was fatally struck by a car while she was waiting at a bus stop at 3484 W. Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes at 6:40 a.m., officials said.
The mother of two was heading to her job at Flanigan's when a car careened into the bus bench she was sitting on.
The driver, 51-year-old Bruce Williams of Fort Lauderdale, told detectives he swerved to avoid hitting another car, officials said.
Ullius was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 7:40 a.m., according to officials.
The victim's husband Mackenson Vernet said his wife had been struck by a car in 2002 in Michigan, also while on her way to work. He said a car lost control and hit her on the sidewalk, leaving her in a coma and with a broken leg.

The mother later lost her oldest daughter to another car crash in 2008, when the girl was run over while crossing the street with her father in Georgia.
The family has now been left without its sole breadwinner, who had just graduated from nursing school.
"She was the fighter, she was the mother, she was a strong woman," Vernet said.

He said as he cried, “Right now we don't have nothing left, nothing, she left behind two kids. I'm asking myself, how am I going to do it myself.”
A second woman in her mid-20s was trying to cross Powerline Road at Hammondville Road in Pompano Beach when she was struck by a Toyota RAV4 driven by 62-year-old Dennis Craig Klein of Margate at 5:26 a.m., according to a Broward Sheriff's Office news release.
The victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, had just gotten off the county bus before being hit, the release said.
Detectives are still working to determine the woman's identity.
