4 Stabbed After Coconut Grove Halloween Party

3 victims in critical condition following stabbing at Grove Halloween Bash

Police are investigating after four men were stabbed after a Halloween party in Coconut Grove early Thursday, authorities said.

The incident happened in the 3200 block of Grand Avenue around 2 a.m. as the popular Coconut Grove Halloween Bash was wrapping up, Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said.

One of the victims went into cardiac arrest but rescue workers were able to revive him, Carroll said. All four were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Two people were in stable condition and two were in critical.

None of the victims were identified.

Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said one suspect was taken into custody at the scene and a knife was recovered. She said the incident began with a fight.

"There was a large crowd that was already walking toward their cars when a large fight broke out," Reyes said. "Due to the heavy police presence we were able to apprehend the knife-wielding subject."

A distraught relative of one victim said her cousin was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“If I would have been with my cousin, I probably would've been one of them that would have stabbed,” said the woman, who did not give her name.

Reyes said police are trying to determine why the fight began. The suspect was later identified as 21-year-old Anevri Moreira, who was charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder.

"Right now we believe only one person stabbed all four," she said.

Carroll said there were no major incident calls throughout the festivities before the stabbing.

"Police are trying to determine what all took place," Carroll said.
