FLORIDA UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS AT 6.2 PERCENT

Florida's latest unemployment rate is dropping again. In December, the rate was 6.2 percent, down from 6.4 percent in January. That's the lowest the rate has been since July 2008.

NECROPSIES FOR 6 OF 25 PILOT WHALES FOUND DEAD

Teams of biologists are investigating the deaths of 25 pilot whales in the shallow waters off southwest Florida. Full necropsies were performed on six animals Friday, and officials found no obvious signs of human interaction. Boaters found the carcasses — 16 females and nine males — the day before on Kice Island.

AUTOPSY RULES TORTURED BOY'S DEATH A HOMICIDE

The death of a 3-year-old boy who police say was tortured by his mother has officially been ruled a homicide. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office reported Friday that Ghanson Debrosse died from multiple injuries and trauma. Police say 21-year-old Fafane Caze repeatedly beat her young son and tortured him with a lighter to stop him from urinating on the floor.

911 CALL RELEASED IN THEATER SHOOTING

Officials in Pasco County have released a 911 emergency call from the day a man was fatally shot in a movie theater. The 11 minute call is from an off-duty nurse who tried to help Chad Oulson after he was shot. A 71-year-old former police officer is charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail.

MAN ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS GUN IN TAMPA ER

A man being checked out at a Tampa emergency room accidentally fired his gun. The incident happened early Friday in Tampa. The man has a concealed weapons permit. The state attorney's office was notified and no charges against the man are planned. No one was injured.

3 OFFICERS SUSPENDED FOR UNAUTHORIZED BIEBER ESCORT

An official says three Opa-locka police officers have been suspended for giving Justin Bieber an unauthorized escort from the airport. Opa-locka Police spokesman and Assistant City Manager David Chiverton said Friday that the officers were suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation.
