WHO WILL FACE GOV. RICK SCOTT?
 
The top three prospects to face him next year are Sen. Bill Nelson, who says he's not planning to run; former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, who became a Democrat less than five months ago; and former state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, who lost to Scott in 2010. Despite Scott's poor poll numbers, beating him won't be easy. He has the advantage of incumbency at a time when Florida's economy is improving and his campaign will be well-financed.
 
GATOR SURPRISES FAMILY ON MOTHER'S DAY
 
The 8-foot gator was found hissing back at them from the front porch. It was later trapped and taken to Everglades Holiday Park. The family says they have no idea how the gator got there.
 
UM GRAD DIES IN CAR CRASH
 
A University of Miami graduate died in a Mother's Day car crash just two days after receiving his business degree. Police say he was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed near the Coral Gables campus.
 
MIAMI MAN SHOT FOR GOLD CHAIN
 
Police say a Miami man was shot in the stomach by three suspects who robbed him of his gold chain. The suspects approached the man Sunday evening near a shopping area and demanded the necklace.
 
FIRE INTERRUPTS MOTHER'S DAY DINNER NEAR TAMPA
 
More than 200 patrons had to evacuate a Tampa-area restaurant during a Mother's Day meal. No one was injured.
 
595 PINE ISLAND RAMP

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will open the new permanent exit ramp from westbound I-595 to westbound SR 84 serving Pine Island Road on Monday, May 13th at 5 a.m. as part of the ongoing I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project. The new exit ramp is located approximately ¾ mile east of its current location.
