Some members from the marathon swimming community are questioning the speed of Nyad's swimming during a portion of her 53-hour journey from Cuba to Key West. Nyad's team says the 64-year-old never got into or held onto her boat during the journey.
 
MAN TO PLEAD GUILTY TO TRICKING PREGNANT EX-GIRLFRIEND INTO TAKING A PILL
 
John Welden is scheduled to plead guilty Monday in Tampa federal court to tampering with a consumer product and conspiracy to commit mail fraud. He faced a possible life sentence if convicted of his original charge, killing an unborn child.
 
VETERANS ARE RACING JET SKIS FROM KEY WEST TO NEW YORK CITY
 
The Never Quit Challenge began early Friday in Key West. Eight men and one woman are using personal watercraft to travel 1,600 miles to the finish line in New York by Sept. 11 to raise money for organizations helping veterans and their families.
 
DOLPHINS WIN; BUCCANEERS, JAGUARS LOSE FIRST GAME OF NFL SEASON
 
The Miami Dolphins beat the Cleveland Browns 23-10 on Sunday, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell 18-17 to the New York Jets, thanks to a last-minute field. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost 28-2 to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was the worst opening day loss for the Jaguars in 19 seasons.
 
MAN DROWNS IN MIAMI LAKE
 
A 24-year-old man drowned Sunday evening while swimming in a lake behind a northwest Miami-Dade County home.

DRIVER IN FATAL RICKENBACKER CAUSEWAY CRASH TO BE SENTENCED

The South Florida musician charged in the hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist on the Rickenbacker Causeway is expected in court Monday for a sentencing hearing. Carlos Bertonatti, 32, faces a maximum of 35 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty in February in the January 2010 crash in Key Biscayne that killed Christophe LeCanne.
