Agencies Participate in Homeland-Security Exercise in Key West

Exercise will be used to see how agencies respond to homeland-security-related incident near Key West

More than a dozen local, state and federal agencies will be participating in a homeland-security exercise in Key West.

The U.S. Coast Guard says in a statement it has the lead in coordinating these types of exercises as the Federal Maritime Security Coordinator.

The Area Maritime Security Training and Exercise Program focuses on building relationships within the Federal Maritime Security domain to write, review and update the security plan as well as to supporting other transportation entities that rely upon the port being secure.

The exercises will be used to see if the agencies are prepared to respond to a homeland-security-related incident near Key West on Monday.

The other agencies include the FBI, TSA, state wildlife commission and local officials in the Florida Keys.
