Anthawn Ragan, Man Charged in Two Miami Murders, Back in Court

The man charged in a pair of shootings that left a 10-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man dead is due back in court Tuesday for an arraignment.

Anthawn Ragan, 19, is scheduled to attend a 9 a.m. arraignment in Miami-Dade court.

Ragan is being held without bond on several charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, robbery, battery, grand the and aggravated assault.

Police arrested Ragan last month in the Nov. 22 murder of 10-year-old Aaron Vu, who was shot during an armed robbery at his family's Hong Kong nail salon at 14832 Northwest 7th Avenue.

Ragan and another suspect barged into the salon, demanded cash and valuables at gunpoint and then fired into the store as they fled, police said. Aaron Vu was killed at the scene. His father, Hai Vu, was shot but survived.

Police later charged Ragan in the death of 21-year-old Luis Perez, who was shot at the Motel 7 at 13445 Northwest 7th Avenue. Police said Ragan and two other suspects shot Perez twice at close range at the motel on Nov. 1.

A second suspect, 22-year-old Terry Allen Nealy, has also been charged in the Motel 7 incident. Police are still looking for a second suspect in the nail salon shooting, but have not confirmed if it was Nealy.

Ragan has also been charged in the Oct. 23 armed robbery of a Miami store.
