Authorities investigating after cyclist struck and killed in Tamarac

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a truck in Tamarac Tuesday night, authorities said.

The incident happened in the 6300 block of University drive when the driver of a Ford Ranger collided with a man in his 60s who was riding his bicycle, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The cyclist was taken to Broward General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the truck stayed at the scene. Detectives are investigating the incident and will work to determine how the collision happened, the BSO said.
