‘Boom Boom Room' Operator Found Guilty

James "Red" Mozie found guilty on ten federal counts related to prostitution ring

The Oakland Park man charged with running a prostitution operation out of his home was convicted Tuesday on ten federal charges including child sex trafficking and producing child pornography.

James "Red" Mozie, 34, is looking at life behind bars when he's sentenced on Feb. 28, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Mozie and girlfriend Laschell Harris, 37, were arrested in May by an FBI task force for running the brothel, dubbed the 'Boom Boom Room.'

Agents found two 17-year-old girls, two women, and 12 men in the their home, along with timers, boxes of condoms, several hundred dollars in cash and job applications asking potential prostitutes their willingness to perform certain sex acts.

A 16-year-old found in the home said she participated in selling her body for sex, and authorities said Harris collected money while under-aged girls danced and pornography played on televisions. An armed guard allegedly stood watch at the door of the home.

In November, Harris was sentenced to 13 years in prison for her role in the prostitution enterprise. Another man, William Rice, was sentenced to four years in prison for possessing a gun when the Boom Boom Room was raided. Rice had admitted to working as a doorman at the home.

Mozie's attorney, Alvin Entin, told the Sun-Sentinel he'll file an appeal.
