A Broward band teacher is facing sexual assault charges after authorities say he had a sexual relationship with one of his underage students.
Martin Brown, 33, was arrested Wednesday on four counts of sexual assault on a victim 17 years old or under, according to a Hollywood Police arrest affidavit released Thursday. He also faces one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, online Broward court records said.
Brown appeared in bond court Thursday where he was ordered held on $20,500 bond by Judge John Hurley. His attorney, Mark Wilensky, had asked for bond of $4,500 bond saying the investigation had been ongoing and Brown has remained available.

Wilensky wasn't available for comment Thursday.
Hurley ordered Brown to have no contact with the victim if he posts bond. He also won't be allowed to work as a teacher while out on bond.
Broward School Board Officials said Brown has been a school district employee since 2007 and has been the band music teacher at Stranahan High School since July 2010.

According to the affidavit, Brown exchanged phone numbers with the student in 2011 when she was in 10th grade and the two began a texting relationship during the summer before she began 11th grade.
When the girl was in 11th grade, and still 16 years old, she would skip class to go stay in Brown's classroom. The two began to have sexually explicit conversations, and Brown told her he wanted to "kiss all over your body," the affidavit said.
On the weekend of her 17th birthday, Brown picked the girl up at her home while her parents were gone and brought her to his home in Hollywood where they smoked marijuana provided by Brown and had sex, the affidavit said.

After the first sexual encounter, Brown would call the girl's teacher while she was in class to have her pulled out and sent to him, the affidavit said. While in his office, the two would kiss and "make out" during school hours, the girl told detectives, according to the report.
The relationship continued throughout the school year, with Brown and his student having sex on four occasions, the report said. They smoked marijuana each time, according to the affidavit.
Broward County School District Police discovered the alleged relationship last month, the affidavit said.
