Broward County Animal Organization Takes Part In Promoting Animal Adoptions

Broward County Animal Care and Adoption hosts "Just One Day" to promote pet adoption.

Broward County Animal Care and Adoption joined animal shelters across the country to promote the adoption of cats and dogs at an event on Monday.

The agency will host two animal adoption events on June 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

One event will take place downtown at the Governmental Center in Fort Lauderdale and the other at Government Center West in Plantation.

No Kill Nation, a national animal advocacy group, came up with the idea of of bringing together many animal shelters in Just One Day.

The event, called Just One Day, will mark the first time animal shelters come together nationwide to encourage pet adoptions and rescue initiatives. All involved organizations have decided not to euthanize any animals on the day of the project.

“It demonstrates the commitment of animal care organizations to do all we can to save the homeless pets in our care and to afford them every opportunity to get a second chance at life," Karen Koenig, the agency's administrator, said in an email statement.
