Broward Sheriff's Deputy Injured in Crash

Car collides with police cruiser in Dania Beach, deputy hospitalized

A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries after a violent collision with another car in Dania Beach Wednesday night, authorities said.

Authorities say the female deputy was attempting an eastbound turn from Southwest 30th Avenue onto Griffin Road when she was struck by a Toyota Camry believed to have been running a red light.

The driver of the Camry is said to be a Miami-Dade Corrections Officer on his way to work at the Everglades Correctional Facility.

The deputy was rushed to Hollywood Memorial Regional Medical Center for treatment and her condition is unknown. The driver of the Camry was treated for wounds to his chest, authorities said.

Neither driver has been identified.
