Suspect in Canadian Tourist Killing Turns Himself In: Police

Hollywood Police are investigating after a Canadian tourist was found killed Sunday morning.

A suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of a Canadian tourist turned himself in to police Monday night, authorities said.

Twane Dobard, 37, was charged with first-degree murder after he turned himself in at about 9 p.m. at the Hallandale Beach Police Department, Hollywood Police said.

Dobard appeared in court Tuesday where he was ordered held without bond.

Police said earlier Monday that they had obtained a warrant for Dobard as the person responsible for killing Domenico Perruccio, 58, and were searching for him.

Perruccio was found on the side of the road at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday outside the Winter Haven Apartments at Jefferson Street and S. Federal Highway, Hollywood Police spokesman Lt. Osvaldo Perez said.

When officers arrived they found an unresponsive man lying by the roadway with trauma to his body, Perez said.

Witnesses said Perruccio was stabbed to death.

"We saw the body laying there, and he was stabbed," Gus Arroyo said. "We see him with two stab wounds on the side."

Homicide detectives are investigating the man's death.

"We're in contact with family, and we're also in contact with the Canadian counselors," Perez said.
