Police Release Video of Broward Bus Beating

Driver attacked by man who stopped bus, tried to steal cell phone: Police

Surveillance video of the attack on a Broward County bus driver by an out of control would-be robber was released by authorities.

According to a Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report, driver Larry Khan was driving southbound on State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes on Feb. 23 when he was approached by 22-year-old Dudley Randall Pierre.

Pierre crossed the line that separates passengers from the driver and put his foot on the brake pedal, causing the bus to stop abruptly, the report said.

With the bus stopped, Pierre started punching Khan in the face and tried to take his cell phone, the report said.

The video shows Khan trying to fight Pierre off as passengers on the bus are able to eventually pull the attacker off. The man identified as Pierre leaves the bus but returns and confronts Khan.

According to the report, Pierre ran off the bus and confronted a man in a nearby parking lot, hitting him with a large stick.

He was finally arrested in the area after bus occupants began to yell and point him out, the report said.

Pierre, of Deerfield Beach, was charged with robbery, burglary and battery on a public transit employee. He was being held without bond Tuesday and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.
