Coral Gables Courthouse Closed Again Tuesday After Mystery Illnesses

Scheduled court hearings canceled as health department investigates

The Coral Gables courthouse will remain closed Tuesday, five days after it was evacuated after several employees became ill.

The health department continues to investigate the unexplained illnesses at the building at 3100 Ponce De Leon Boulevard.

Seven workers were taken to the hospital last Thursday and over 30 others evacuated. The courthouse had been fumigated for termites earlier in the month, but no traces of the fumigant were found, officials said.

All scheduled court hearings for Monday and Tuesday were canceled and would be rescheduled for a later date. It was unknown whether the building would be open Wednesday.
