Couple Carjacked at Gunpoint at Little Havana Gas Station

Police looking for armed carjackers who stole car while couple was pumping gas

Police are investigating after a couple was carjacked at gunpoint at a gas station in Little Havana early Tuesday.

The robbery happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Sun Flex station at 1599 West Flagler Street as the couple was pumping gas.

The victims said they were forced to the ground at gunpoint as the thieves stole their 2008 silver Honda Civic. They were able to get their small dog, Cookie, out of the car before it was stolen.

"They seemed like they were pretty scared at what they were doing, they seemed to be like they were rookies," victim Alejandro Gonzalez said. "They were really scared, they were pointing at us saying 'give me everything, get out of the car.'"

"Apparently people do get shot in these sorts of assaults so we were lucky," Laura Pinilla said. "We're just really stressed out."

Gonzalez said the robbers were driving in a silver BMW. Police are still investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
