Crews Work to Fix Water Main Break in Sunrise

Hundreds of residents affected by broken water main

Crews were working to repair a broken water main Monday that was affecting hundreds of residents in Sunrise.

The incident happened late Sunday night in the area of Northwest 60th Avenue and 19th Street.

"Last night, about 9 o'clock I was ready to take a shower and when I turned on the water it was very slow," said resident Clarina Noel.

More than 500 residents were being cautioned to boil their water as crews worked throughout the night and morning to fix the break.

"How much of an inconvenience is this? Very much, we have to use bottled water to wash your face and stuff like that so it's terrible," said Mike Donovanmundle.

The boil water order was in effect for customers from Northwest 11th Street north to Northwest 24th Street and from Northwest 58th Terrace west to Northwest 68th Avenue.

"We got a chance to put on, to catch some pans with water so it's not that bad.  They have to do what they have to do because it was flooding all out here," Sandra Stuart said.
