‘Crying' Carjacker Arrested in Broward: Cops

Armed man on bike shed tears during robbery: Authorities

A bike-riding armed man who shed tears during a robbery in Palm Beach County last month was arrested in Broward, authorities said Tuesday.

Rashod L. Noble, 21, is facing charges of armed carjacking and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the Nov. 7 robbery, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Noble was arrested in Broward on Saturday and brought to Palm Beach, where he was expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

Authorities say Noble was riding his BMX-style bike when he encountered the victim in an apartment complex parking lot.

Noble called out to the victim, who ignored him, according to an arrest affidavit. "Hey, I don't want to do this. This isn't my first time," Noble said, as he pointed a handgun at the victim, the affidavit said.

The affidavit said Noble made the man empty his pockets and even take his pants off. The victim later told authorities Noble repeatedly apologized and "appeared to be crying" during the robbery.

Noble told the man he was married with children and and when he asked the victim if he was married, and the victim said yes, Noble demanded his wedding ring, the affidavit said.

Police say Noble fled the scene with the ring, cellphone, keys and the victim's Jaguar.

When Broward Sheriff's deputies spotted the stolen car, Noble led them on a brief chase, which ended when he crashed the Jaguar into a concrete pole, the affidavit said.

Deputies didn't find the gun in the car, but did find the victim's cellphone, the affidavit said.

When Noble was told the charges he was facing, police say he didn't quite understand how the law works.

"How can you charge me with auto theft when I stole the car in Palm Beach?" Noble said, according to the affidavit.

Noble then told deputies how he planned to avoid the charges.

"There is a reason I did not have the gun on me. I pointed the gun at the guy when I took the car, but without the gun and the fact I have the keys, I will win the case in court," he said, according to the affidavit. "I just got out of jail for the same thing. The judge let me off on the charges because I stole the car from a drug user."

Police say Noble also discussed his profession.

"I mainly am a drug dealer. That's what I do," Noble said. "That's how I make my money. I only steal cars when I need a ride Without the gun, they have no case."

Noble was being held without bond Tuesday. It was unknown whether he had an attorney.
