Deerfield Beach's Crabby Jack's Goes Up in Flames

The Sunday morning blaze destroyed the local restaurant/bar

Authorities were to investigate a blaze Monday that destroyed Crabby Jack’s, the Deerfield Beach bar and restaurant.

The early Sunday morning two-alarm blaze took more than 50 firefighters to extinguish it.

“It was a local landmark and hangout,” Gary Fernaays, Deerfield Beach Fire-Rescue assistant chief, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Deerfield Beach Mayor Peggy Noland watched as firefighters extinguished the blaze at 1015 S. Federal Highway.

“A lot of people are going to miss it,” Noland told the newspaper. “This is a landmark building that has been here at least for the 32 years I’ve been here. It is very well-known.”

Fernaays said officials would investigate by taking apart the building.
