FHP Trooper Injured in Turnpike Crash in Miami-Dade

Cars hit trooper's cruiser as he's writing ticket: Officials

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured in an early morning crash on the Turnpike in Northwest Miami-Dade Tuesday.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, the trooper was giving a citation to a driver in the emergency lane on the northbound side of the Turnpike near Northwest 41st Street when two cars came from behind and crashed into his cruiser.

Officials said two people were transported by ground rescue to area hospitals. Their identities and conditions are unknown.

The trooper was seen being loaded onto a stretcher at the scene.

No other details were immediately known.
