The westbound lanes of I-595 at Flamingo Road were closed for nearly five hours early Friday after a fatal accident involving a motorcycle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:45 a.m.. The motorcyclist, 30-year-old Edwin Stracke, was killed at the scene.
Police said Stracke, of Pembroke Pines, somehow lost control of his 2007 Yamaha
The crash caused westbound traffic to be backed up for miles. The westbound lanes were finally opened back up shortly before 9 a.m.
