Authorities are investigating three unrelated collisions across South Florida that left two men and a woman dead this weekend, officials said.

The first crash happened in Fort Lauderdale shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, when 59-year-old Lawrence Aston Weir was trying to cross a road and a van struck him, according to Fort Lauderdale police Lt. Frank Sousa.

Weir, of Fort Lauderdale, was crossing in the 1300 block of Northwest 31st Avenue at the same time that the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Donald P. Evans, 58, moved from the road’s center lane to the right lane, Sousa said.

Weir was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Sousa said.

The next crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday near Deerfield Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A woman was driving in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, south of the Southwest 10th Street exit, when for an undetermined reason she lost control of the vehicle, the agency said.

The 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by Nicole Catherine Kuncl, 27, of West Palm Beach, left the road on the west shoulder, overturned and struck a tree, the Highway Patrol said.

The collision caused Kuncl, who wasn’t wearing her seat belt, to be thrown from the vehicle, the Highway Patrol said. She was taken to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead, the agency said.

Meanwhile in Palm Beach County, authorities were investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist in Lake Worth.

A blue or green van hit the man about 3:15 p.m. Sunday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said. The accident happened on Sixth Avenue between E and D streets and caused a road closure between D and F streets, according to Eric Davis, spokesman for the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

The bicyclist’s name hasn’t been released.

Fort Lauderdale police ask anyone with information about the crash that killed Weir to call investigator Jonathan Graham at 954-828-5125, or Broward County Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477. Anyone with information about the hit and run may call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800-458-8477.
