Fort Lauderdale Police Looking for Suspects in Attempted Armed Robbery at McDonald's

Police are looking for two men and the driver of a getaway vehicle.

Fort Lauderdale Police are looking for two suspects who attempted to rob a McDonald's restaurant at gunpoint on Sunday, officials said.

The two men entered the McDonald's at 1600 South State Road 7 at 10:30 p.m. wearing disguises and brandishing guns, ordering the customers to put their hands on the tables and not move, police said.

The suspects demanded the employees take them to the safe and open the registers, police said. Meanwhile, the restaurant manager fled before being confronted by the suspects, according to police.

Surveillance video shows that as the suspects stormed the restaurant, customers threw themselves on the floor. One suspect rushed behind the counter, while the other stayed in front of it, as he carried an assault rifle.

The employees could not open the safe, so the suspects took a customer's cell phone and took off, jumping into a red car that was waiting for them, authorities said.

Police are now looking for the suspects, described as two men in their 20s, about 6 feet tall, wearing black clothing, masks and gloves. Officials do not have a description for the third suspect in the red car, described as a newer model, two-door car with tinted windows. Police believe it may be a Pontiac G-6 coupe.
