Girl, 8, Injured in Drive-By Shooting in Miami: Police

Police looking for gunmen or gunman who opened fire in apartment courtyard

An 8-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was shot in Miami late Sunday night, police said.

The incident happened around midnight in an apartment building courtyard at 1232 Northwest 1st Place, Miami Police said.

According to police, the girl was walking home after babysitting when a red pickup truck or minivan drove by and opened fire on a crowd.

The girl was struck in the buttocks and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was in stable condition early Monday, police said.

A man was also shot in the arm and was taken to Ryder Trauma Center where he was also in stable condition. Police said the man may have been the target of the drive-by shooting and said he isn't cooperating with the investigation.
