Girlfriend Arrested in Millionaire's Murder

Catherine Pileggi charged with first degree murder

The girlfriend of a man who was found dead inside his Fort Lauderdale mansion last week has been charged with murder, police said Tuesday.

Catherine Pileggi, 54, was arrested for killing 70-year-old Ronald Vinci after investigators said she was upset the man wanted to end their relationship.

On June 28, Vinci's body was discovered inside the home at 101 Coconut Drive wrapped in bedding and plastic bags.

Police have not said how the man died, but detectives said they found several items linking Pileggi to the murder. The Broward Medical Examiner's Office concluded Vinci's death a homicide.

Vinci had recently purchased the home mansion for $2.9 million.
